Origin of DhanvantariLord Dhanvantri originated from the churning of the milky sea (Samudra Manthan). He appeared with a golden pot in his hand. According to the Hindu scriptures, the pot contained nectar which had the power to make one immortal. He gave this to the Devtas (Deities). Two days later, Goddess Lakshmi also appeared from the same milky sea. That is why Dhanteras is celebrated two days before Deepawali celebrations. Lord Dhanvantari is believed to be also the creator of Ayurveda. People also fold their hands before him to be blessed with supreme health and happiness.
