FRUITS : BANANA

Named in Ayurveda after the celestial dancing damsel, Rambha, the banana is reputed to promote fertility and so is used to decorate marriage halls. Many people in the west and south of India use the fresh leaves as plates for their meals, and the flowers are used to treat dysentery and excessive menstrual bleeding. The fruit is said to be aphrodisiac, while the juice of the stem is reported to be anti-aphrodisiac and calm mental agitation and hysteria. The fruit can be used to treat either diarrhoea or constipation.
