How is Rahu Kalam Calculated

The following example illustrates the method to calculate Rahu Kalam for a particular day of the week.

Consider the uniform sunrise time as 6:00a.m.and sunset as 6:00 p.m. The Rahu Kalam will be of hour and a half duration for every day. In the figure below, count from Rahu Kalam as 1st period, Monday 2nd period, Saturday 3rd period, Friday 4th period, Wednesday 5th period, Thursday 6th period, Tuesday 7th period and Sunday 8th period. Thus, there is no Rahu Kalam in the first period of any day of the week.
