According to Vedic Astrology, when the planet Mars is located in certain houses of the horoscope, it casts malefic influences on various life aspects of that person. This is the description of the dreaded Bhauma Dosha or Kuja Dosha, the presence of which in a person's Birth Chart makes one a Manglik. We follow the ancient treatise of Parashara in our examination of Natal Charts to identify the existence of Bhauma Dosha or Kuja Dosha (Dosha means defect) conditions that makes a chart Manglik. A person with Bhauma Dosha or Kuja Dosha is a Manglik.
A Manglik can be a man or a woman. Although this is a condition that causes tremendous emotional distress for both genders, often for a woman it can be devastating.
How does Bhauma Dosha or Kuja Dosha affect a person?
First, although a person may have certain conditions in their chart, that make them Manglik candidates, there are various degrees of Bhauma Dosha. Kuja Dosha is a strong regulator of marital harmony. This affliction gets cancelled, according to Sage Parashara, only if the spouse also has a similar affliction i.e. if the spouse is also a Manglik. If both partners in a marriage are Mangliks the Mars Dosha does not become operative for either partner.
