| WATER |
Water, the Life-Sustaining Drink. Anyone who has worked outside on a hot day or exercised rigorously during the summer knows the discomfort of dehydration: dry mouth, hot flushes, and headache. Like oxygen, water is essential for our survival. In fact, between 55 and 65 percent of our body weight is water.
Water provides the medium for blood, lymph, perspiration, digestive juices, and other body fluids, and it allows the nutrients from the food we eat to enter cells, the waste products to be removed. Natural health practitioners commonly recommend that we consume six to eight glasses of water daily. Drinking plenty of water and avoiding such beverages as coffee and alcohol are routinely recommended to those following a natural medicine regimen.
