It called as "Madhu Meha" in Ayurveda. It the disease which occurs due to sedentary life style. Excessive urination, excessive hunger, weakness, numbness and burning sensation in the palms and soles are common complaints.
Drink the juice of Bitter gourd leaves and fruits of the plant in a dose of 30ml twice daily, preferably on an empty stomach.
Consume one teaspoon methi powder, early morning on an empty stomach.
The seeds of jambul (shizigemcumini) are helpful in treating diabetes mellitus. 1teaspoon of this powder should be taken with 1cup of milk or water. The tree bark of jambul is to be powdered and taken in the dose of 10 gms twice daily.
A tablespoon of honey mixed with a cup of bittergoard juice taken daily for 2-3 months will reduce the sugar levels. An equal quantity of Indian gooseberry and turmeric in the dose of 5gms each is to be taken twice daily.
Boil the bark of Varuna (Cartaeve relisiosa) tree in water and give the prepared decoction to the patient in a dose of 30ml, 3 times a day.
