Last week on Friday, when we had placed the first installment, we had predicted that a fourth front is soon going to be announced and the same was announced the next day when SPA, RJD and LJD announced their 4th front stating their Prime Minister candidate will be Mr Manmohon Singh of UPA. This was clearly an attempt on their part to keep their bridges open with Congress post election and also to pre- empt Congress to have any post poll alliance with Mayawati. In individual state still some new alignments are working out. For instance Congress from UPA has stuck some arrangements with Mayawati’s BSP in one of the states. Sharad Pawar has finally joined with Left Front and BJD in Orissa though claiming he is part of the UPA in other states. As the polling days are coming closer, we will see more such tactical alliances by smaller parties in individual states with either Congress or BJP .
