The Great Indian Democracy Maha Yagna or the Great Indian Democracy Circus whichever way you want to look at the 15th Lok Sabha Election is to be held during April/May 2009. The political climate in India is hot!!! The old UPA is breaking. The left had left earlier. The latest are Lallu Prasad Yadav with his RJD faction and Ram Vilas Paswan with his faction. The Bihar is free for all. In UP, no pre- poll alliance with Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi party and Congress could be forged therefore, Congress is going alone. The 120 MPs from Bihar and UP are crucial in any ultimate configuration for the ruling coalition in the center.

Will BJP and JDU carry Bihar with them? Will Mayawati carry UP with her? Will Jayalalithaa make a clean sweep in Tamil Nadu? Will Congress and Mamta’s alliance in West Bengal be able to make significant dent in the Left bastion and will CPM not play any key role in the third front formation at the center post election and form a government, with Congress forced to support the third front? Will L. K. Advani manage to muster majority as his predecessor Mr. Vajpayee could do earlier and form the government under NDA banner? The political analysts are busy debating this and nobody really has a clear answer.
However, what is clear is- if NDA makes it then L. K. Advani will be the next Prime Minister of India. If Congress is somewhat successful in Bihar, UP and West Bengal and is not routed in Tamil Nadu along with DMK, then Manmohon Singh will be the next Prime Minister from Congress or Madam Sonia Gandhi may be forced to step in this time.
Madam Mayawati has already staked her claim to become the Prime Minister if the so called third front manages to get the numbers and Madam Jaylalithaa will be sure to stake her claim if her party can manage to stage a coup in Tamil Nadu by sweeping the election.
